Bahrain (Al Bahrayn)
State of Bahrain
Small state archipelago of the Middle East (665 km2), Bahreïn is an entirely insular monarchy of the Persian Gulf, between Saudi Arabia, in the west, and Qatar, in the east. Covered with more than 90% by the desert, Bahreïn owes its economic health with the trade of its oil that constitutes its principal source of income. “Black Gold”, genuine barometer of the health of the country, in fact, in spite of its small size, it is an important geostrategic point. One can also mention other important resources, like natural gas, and products from the sea, of which fishing, of course, but also pearls.
The kingdom of Bahreïn is composed of a desert plain that rises gently towards a central plate and its highest point, Jabal AD Dukhan, which culminates at 122m. The climate is really arid. Very hot in summer, it is milder and pleasant in winter. The country suffers regularly from periods of dryness and sandstorms remain a frequent natural risk. Thanks to its modern infrastructures and its attractive tax system, Bahreïn attracts many multinational companies, but also personalities from the arts and the sports world who make it their home.
