At the time when our western world is gearing for Halloween decos, pumpkins and witches, then quietly unpack christmas trees, garlands and Father Christmas, reen-dears and sledges, some of us are just coming back from holidays or sorting their photo albums, while reviving their best souvenirs, experiences from elsewhere and exotic flavours to keep at the surface in order to confront a new winter.
This being said, we should not forget that another part of the small planet on which we are living has no idea that the fat red bearded man with his basket was designed by Coca-Cola, that the 31st of October was a festive day in favour of some pagan divinity named Samhain and that pumpkins, originally turnips, scooped up and sculpted in shape of faces, were used by the druids to light up their way while accompanied by some spirits.
But who, amongst us, civilized people knew this? Ultimately, whatever our culture be, religion and beliefs, customs and origins, we all live in an artificial world, a large mingling of events born from every sides, where the only truth is what we see and what we can transmit through a few words or images. And this is what we perceive from reality. But in the opposite of many others, we do benefit from the opportunity to transmit an experience as well as a choice to live it.
This is what Caroline and Patrick have done, while immersing in Guatemala with a great sensibility and an extreme modesty, without any "charity business" attitude.
We feel necessary to inform, through our little window, of what we see or feel. Whatever it can be, radiating beauty obscured by sadness, it will always be something that we lived and that we wish to transmit.
After some time in Peru, Pascal Mannaerts is moving to Bolivia, and there are always such beautiful faces.
Francois-Xavier is back to known territory, desert, and whose words are flowing with the same easiness that the sand of his images.
Others, like Claire and Reno, more at ease with drawing than photography, keep on with their voyage, knowing how to use pen as well as a brush.
And ultimately, a wonderful portfolio, worth an ad for a fashionable brand of cloths, about the wide Northern American landscapes by our duett, Martine and Mikhaal. A multitude of images and various techniques, but always the same emotions. Thank You!
Now, enough of this chit chat, let us go through more serious stuff and run into realities that YOU let us share together by a complete and truly pleasant immersion.
